Legalize Pot? What impact would legalizing marijuana have on society?

  1. People would be addicted to the drug and would relay on it like it were a over the counter drug. Also, the drug would be more available to children which would affect them badly.

  2. first off this picture made me laugh so hard...very nice. I don't see what the problem with legalizing marijuana is(note: i do not do any drugs of any kind). I have been told that alcohol(ie:beer) and marijuana effects people the same way. A person gets drunk when he or she has drunken to many beers and people get high when they smoke marijuana. Both of them enables your ability to think or act unless you do to much and die....however thats another story. People should follow the same rules of drinking when smoking marijuana ( dont smoke and drive...etc) other then all that i think society would be fine with legalizing marijuana and doesn't it have a plus side? Isn't it suppose to help those who are diagnosed with cancer? I'll have to look more into that :)

  4. If pot was legalized I assume that there would be a lot of dumb people walking on the streets saying stupid stuff. Society would give a turn for the rest, and addiction would surely become a wide problem.

  5. If marijuana was legalized alot of people, would start smoking all over public places. I believe that it would cause a problem because all thos people who smoke would not being in their senses and they would start to act stupid.

  6. I believe legalizing marijuana would benefit our society in several ways, crime could be one of them. By legalizing marijuana, the government would be able to regulate it and prices should go down. Therefore, the need to commit crimes, such as stealing to make some quick cash would not be necessary due to lower prices. This is just one small example in the numerous ways legalizing marijuana could benefit society.

I also want to add that marijuana, I believe, is not considered a drug. You cannot die from it, in fact, it is less dangerous than most over the counter drugs such as advil. Another thing, if marijuana was to be legalized, I do not believe people would be smoking it in public otherwise it would be public intoxication just like alcohol

  7. m split about this decision. Because i know that it would bring a large amount of money for the State. Which really need a large amount a help. Also there would be to much regulation for the amount you can have(i heard somewhere only like an ounce). so the guy in the corner would still be making profits. But i am a great believer that the government does not have the right to tell you what you can do to u r body. I don't do drugs but from what i have heard drinking beer is worse because it impairs one's ability to drive. My greatest concern is that this is just a desperate tax, that the government is trying to impose. While forgetting the welfare of their constitutes.

  8. Wow the legalization of marijuana would help this country's economy, but i believe that the this is not the way to do it. Most people use marijuana to get high and nothing else. Either way if its legalized or not people will to find the way to use it. I hate the smell of cigarettes so i can just wonder what stuff smells like. Nope nope blaaaahhhhhh. Marijuana ouuuutttt!!!!

  9. Legalize it. it wouldnt lead to a society thats any worse than it is now, no more dumb people than are already out there. it can be misused just as anything can be, such as fast food. Its not worse than alcohol, you cant die from it and youre in more control than you are after consuming alchol. Plus it can help the economy.

  10. If they legalized Marijuana today, many younger people would go out and buy it right now. I mean, if they taxed it, i guess it would help out the deficit that we have here in CA, cause of so many pot smokers there are here. But I dont think that would be a good reason why we should legalize it.

  11. Legalize it! It's not like you can OD on it and die from it. Plus most of the people in jail have to do with drugs. So if it's legalized then jails will have more room for convicts that do worse things!
